Offensive line play is so important to success in the NFL, as the ability to protect quarterbacks open up holes in the running game can determine how an entire offense performs. As a result, handicapping each team’s Offensive line play is of vital importance to successful NFL betting. Here, we give you our NFL offensive line rankings for each team in the league to give you an idea as to how each group should perform during the 2023 season.

32. New York Giants

Key Players at this Position: Andrew Thomas, Evan Neal

Coming in last place in our NFL offensive line rankings are the New York Giants. This one hurts to write as a Giants fan, but the lack of meaningful progression from this group is staggering given how much they have invested into their quarterback and running back situations. There are plenty of other reasons the Giants offense has yet to blossom in the Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley era, but the o-line is not elevating this offense at all.

31. Tennessee Titans

Key Players at this Position: Andre Dillard, Peter Skoronski

The Tennessee Titans ranked 27th in the NFL in sacks allowed per game, which is a problem when your wide receiver group isn’t good enough to create quick separation consistently. That should change somewhat with DeAndre Hopkins coming aboard. But the offensive line for Tennessee has plenty of improving to do if they want to help make the acquisition of Hopkins an impactful one in 2023.

30. Arizona Cardinals

Key Players at this Position: Will Hernandez, Kelvin Beachum

The Arizona Cardinals offensive line will always be helped by a quarterback who can break the pocket and improvise the way Kyler Murray can. But in terms of their ability to win up front, the Cardinals leave a lot to be desired. With a new offensive system coming in, and a defensive-minded coach set to take over, it is hard to know just whether any immediate improvement is coming up front in Arizona.

29. Los Angeles Rams

Key Players at this Position: Joseph Noteboom, Rob Havenstein

Only one team gave up more sacks on a per-game basis than the Los Angeles Rams last season. That team was the Denver Broncos, thanks to Russell Wilson holding onto the ball for an eternity at times for them. The Rams have an offensive line that did not make too many meaningful improvements this offseason, though they could be helped by the improved health at quarterback and wide receiver for this team entering 2023.

28. Washington Commanders

Key Players at this Position: Charles Leno Jr., Andrew Wylie

Last season, the Washington Commanders struggled at both protecting their quarterback and run blocking. While their defensive line is a strength, their offensive line is certainly not, and it could be hurt by this being the first full year of Sam Howell being the starter at quarterback. Either way, the days of paving running lanes for the Washington offensive front appear to be a distant memory.

27. Seattle Seahawks

Key Players at this Position: Charles Cross, Damien Lewis

This Seattle offensive line is one that does not do anything particularly well, even if they are not terrible in either phase of offensive line play. This Seattle offense always needs a little extra time to make plays in the passing game, as they prefer to throw vertical routes to their dangerous receivers. They have some young offensive tackles, which will determine whether or not that is doable for them in 2023.

26. Houston Texans

Key Players at this Position: Laremy Tunsil, Shaq Mason

Individually, Laremy Tunsil might be one of the best offensive linemen in all of professional football. Unfortunately, the talent around Tunsil is nowhere near that level. But Houston does deserve some credit for making sure that they have an elite level tackle to protect their rookie quarterback this season, even if they struggle to create in the running game.

25. New Orleans Saints

Key Players at this Position: Ryan Ramczyk, Andrus Peat, Trevor Penning

Starting out the top-25 in our NFL offensive line rankings are the New Orleans Saints. Trevor Penning is still something of an unproven entity at such an important spot in their offensive line. But the Saints make up for that with some quality at the guard spots, even if they will need their play at the tackle positions to be better to protect the newly-acquired Derek Carr.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars

Key Players at this Position: Cam Robinson, Brandon Scherff

The Jacksonville Jaguars feel like they are on the verge of turning a corner at so many spots on the field, and offensive line is one of them. Cam Robinson is turning into a quality piece, while Brandon Scherff could really elevate this group if he can remain healthy and consistent on the interior. Keeping pressure off of Trevor Lawrence will be key to the future of this franchise, and the foundation to do so is coming along nicely.

23. New York Jets

Key Players at this Position: Duane Brown, Mekhi Becton

The New York Jets’ offensive line should get a nice boost by simply having a professional caliber quarterback on their roster this year. But the big question for this offensive line is whether or not Mekhi Becton can stay healthy. Injuries have plagued Becton’s career with the Jets so far, and any further setbacks could really hurt a team that feels like it could win now.

22. Las Vegas Raiders

Key Players at this Position: Kolton Miller, Dylan Parham

The Las Vegas Raiders are clearly doing something right with their offensive line, as Josh Jacobs is able to do significant damage on the ground running behind them. But this group doesn’t have the top-end talent needed to be one of the elite units in the NFL. Look for the Raiders’ season to hinge largely on whether or not their o-line can be more than the sum of its parts again this year.

21. Green Bay Packers

Key Players at this Position: David Bakhtiari, Jon Runyan

At its best, the Green Bay Packers have one of the most talented offensive lines in all of football. But health questions have become a constant around left tackle David Bakhtiari. Combine that with questions about how this group will perform without Aaron Rodgers’ ability to improvise when they break down, and the Packers are a big question mark at o-line this year.

20. Miami Dolphins

Key Players at this Position: Terron Armstead, Austin Jackson

The top-20 of our NFL offensive line rankings starts with the Miami Dolphins. Terron Armstead is one of the best left tackles in the NFL, and he has been a valuable o-line component for a team that was among the most explosive passing teams in the league last season. The rest of this offensive line could use a little improvement, but Miami has the foundation to be a dangerous offense once again thanks to their current o-line setup.

19. Buffalo Bills

Key Players at this Position: Dion Dawkins, Mitch Morse

The Buffalo Bills have one of the most dangerous offenses in the NFL, and their offensive line is a big part of their operation. Mitch Morse and Dion Dawkins both play key roles in their success protecting Josh Allen. But the question for the Bills is whether their run blocking game can step up to fix that part of their offense in a year that is Super Bowl or bust.

18. Minnesota Vikings

Key Players at this Position: Christian Darrisaw, Ezra Cleveland

The Minnesota Vikings allowed a lot of pressure on Kirk Cousins last season, as they finished in the bottom-half of the NFL in sacks allowed per game. But they still had some positives up front, and will likely do the same this year. Keep a close eye on the play of left tackle Christian Darrisaw this season, as another strong campaign from him could make the Vikings offense a force once again.

17. Carolina Panthers

Key Players at this Position: Taylor Moton, Austin Corbett

In 2022, the Carolina Panthers allowed just 2.1 sacks per game, which was tied for the eighth-fewest per game in the NFL. Carolina also finished in the top-half of the league in yards per carry last year, even after trading Christian McCaffrey a season ago. That is an encouraging sign for this year, as they will have a rookie quarterback and less dynamic running back group to block for.

16. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Key Players at this Position: Tristan Wirfs, Luke Goedeke

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will no longer have Tom Brady and his quick releases around to help their offensive line. But they do still have Tristan Wirfs, one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL, to help them enter the next phase of their offense. It remains to be seen how much worse this unit looks without Brady, but for now they reside in the middle of the pack.

15. New England Patriots

Key Players at this Position: Trent Brown, Michael Onwenu, Riley Reiff

Would it surprise you to learn that the New England Patriots have a solid offensive line? They land in 15th place in our NFL offensive line rankings, thanks in large part to an upgrade at right tackle. Riley Reiff is expected to fill a position that was a revolving door for the Patriots a season ago, and the Patriots will hope that addition aids in the development of Mac Jones.

14. Chicago Bears

Key Players at this Position: Cody Whitehair, Braxton Jones, Nate Davis

Being an offensive lineman for the Chicago Bears is a great gig right now, as Justin Fields can run his way from trouble even if things break down in pass protection. But the Bears have a solid o-line even without Fields’ ability to bail them out, which helped the Bears to lead the league in yards per carry in the 2022 season.

13. Pittsburgh Steelers

Key Players at this Position: Isaac Seumalo, James Daniels

The Pittsburgh Steelers had more offensive line continuity than any team in the NFL last season, as their five lineman started every game for them in 2022. This year, they will see a couple of changes, but that should not make them worse, which is huge if they want Najee Harris to be a more efficient NFL running back this season.

12. Cincinnati Bengals

Key Players at this Position: Orlando Brown Jr., Ted Karras

When the Cincinnati Bengals drafted Joe Burrow, their offensive line was a disaster. But Cincinnati’s o-line took some major strides forward last season, especially in the second half of the season. There is still room to grow for this group, but they are not a complete disaster anymore, which has allowed Burrow and the skill position players to shine in Ohio.

11. San Francisco 49ers

Key Players at this Position: Trent Williams

There are not many surefire Hall of Fame caliber players at the offensive line spots in the NFL right now. However, Trent Williams is one of those players, and he is a huge reason the San Francisco 49ers have one of the better o-lines in the game today. This offensive line is incredibly versatile, allowing the Niners to use misdirection and utilize their receivers in innovative ways.

10. Denver Broncos

Key Players at this Position: Garrett Bolles, Mike McGlinchey

Starting out the top-10 in our NFL offensive line rankings is the Denver Broncos. Yes, they allowed the most sacks per game in the NFL last season. But that has more to do with Russell Wilson’s need to hold the football for long periods of time than anything else. With Javonte Williams set to make a comeback this year, this offense should be more well-rounded, allowing their line to shine once again.

9. Los Angeles Chargers

Key Players at this Position: Rashawn Slater, Corey Linsley

Injuries made things tougher on the LA Chargers last year than they would have been otherwise. This season, Rashawn Slater will be back on the field at left tackle, which will allow Jamaree Slater to move back to his original position of left guard. Only time will tell if that helps the Chargers avoid having one of the worst running games in the NFL this year, but things are promising for this o-line entering the 2023 campaign.

8. Indianapolis Colts

Key Players at this Position: Quenton Nelson, Bernhard Raimann

There will be questions as to who the Indianapolis Colts will be blocking for in the running game this year with Jonathan Taylor drama hanging over this franchise. But whoever it is will have some great offensive line talent to work with, as Quentin Nelson leads a group of interior linemen that are a handful for even the best defensive fronts.

7. Atlanta Falcons

Key Players at this Position: Jake Matthews, Chris Lindstrom

Last season’s Atlanta Falcons were lethal in the running game despite lacking a truly exceptional back. That was largely a function of an offensive line that performed very well despite their obvious shortcomings elsewhere on the roster offensively. This year, with Bijan Robinson as their lead back, this offensive line could be even tougher for opposing defenses to cope with.

6. Dallas Cowboys

Key Players at this Position: Tyron Smith, Zack Martin

The Dallas Cowboys have long been one of the best teams in the NFL in terms of offensive line play, and that is the case again as the 2023 season approaches. Zack Martin has a contract dispute ongoing with the team, which could be a huge problem if it is not resolved anytime soon. But if he does get back onto the field for Dallas, they once again have the nucleus to win the point of attack.

5. Cleveland Browns

Key Players at this Position: Joel Bitonio, Jedrick Wills, Jack Conklin

There is no surprise that the Cleveland Browns reside in the top-five of our NFL offensive line rankings. They are a big reason that the Browns have had one of the top rushing attacks in football this past season, and things could get even better for this group with a more competent quarterbacking option leading them in Deshaun Watson.

4. Kansas City Chiefs

Key Players at this Position: Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey

Yes, blocking for Patrick Mahomes is easier than blocking for most NFL quarterbacks. But nothing should be taken away from the offensive line of the Kansas City Chiefs for prospering in an Andy Reid system. The Chiefs allowed just 1.5 sacks per game last season, tied for the third-lowest mark in the NFL. There is no reason to believe they won’t be excellent again in the year to come.

3. Detroit Lions

Key Players at this Position: Frank Ragnow, Taylor Decker, Penei Sewell

Injuries held the Detroit Lions back from being the best they could be at the offensive line spots last season. But they are healthy and looking dangerous as the 2023 season approaches. This offense in general is poised to be elite again in 2023, but with Frank Ragnow back healthy (at least at the start of the season), that has a better chance of happening.

2. Baltimore Ravens

Key Players at this Position: Ronnie Stanley, Kevin Zeitler

You know an offensive line is excellent when a head coach consistently goes for fourth downs with confidence that his team can pick up first downs. That is something the Baltimore Ravens have made a habit of, and something they will continue to do thanks to an offensive line that will need to continue to be great to keep Lamar Jackson from injury for yet another season.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Key Players at this Position: Lane Johnson, Jason Kelce, Jordan Mailata

At number one in our NFL offensive line rankings, there is no debate. The Philadelphia Eagles are by far the best team in the NFL at the point of attack on both sides of the ball. That trend will continue in 2023, thanks in large part to an offensive line that simply emasculates opponents in short yardage situations, which the Eagles have used to be aggressive on fourth downs on a regular basis.
