Hurricanes vs Rangers Betting Pick

This game will be played at Madison Square Garden at 8:00 PM ET on Saturday, May 28, 2022.

Why Bet The Rangers:

The Hurricanes dominated the Rangers last Thursday. They outshot New York 34-17 and recorded a whopping 17 takeaways. The Canes’ offense is building up its form, and Andrei Svechnikov found the back of the net in Game 5 to stop his five-game goalless streak. Teuvo Teravainen also scored a goal on Thursday to increase his playoff tally to 11 points (four goals and seven assists).

Antti Raanta had another good day in the crease in Game 5, but the 33-year-old goaltender also got help from his teammates, who held the Rangers in check for all 60 minutes. The Hurricanes owned the lowest scoring defense in the league last regular season, surrendering only 2.44 goals per contest.

The Canes have won nine of their previous 12 encounters with the Rangers. Carolina is still winless on the road in the 2022 Stanley Cup, and that will change if the Hurricanes replicate their performance from Game 5 against the Rangers.

Carolina Hurricanes

The Canes played terrific defense this past Thursday. Antti Raanta had 16 saves, improving to 6-4 in the 2022 Stanley Cup. He owns a strong 2.20 GAA and .920 save percentage, and Raanta will get another starting call Saturday, as Frederik Andersen is still recovering from a lower-body injury that has kept him sidelined since April 16.

Sebastian Aho was a non-factor in that 3-1 victory over the Rangers. The 24-year-old center has accounted for a pair of goals and assists throughout the semifinal series. Defenseman Tony DeAngelo had an assist in Game 5 at home to snap his six-game pointless streak.

New York Rangers

The Rangers couldn’t cope with the Canes’ sturdy defense in their three meetings in Raleigh. In a couple of dates at Madison Square Garden, they outscored Carolina 7-2, and Mika Zibanejad led the way with two goals and an assist.

Zibanejad found the back of the net in Game 5 as well. Igor Shesterkin had 31 saves last Thursday, and the 26-year-old netminder has recorded an excellent .949 save percentage throughout the conference semis.
