Duraev vs Kopylov Betting Preview
Albert Duraev makes his promotional debut after a quick finish win on DWCS just last month. He can crack if needed on the feet, but he is absolutely a monster of a grappler. He has a complete skill set and the level he is at entering the promotion is truly reflected by the betting line in his debut. I believe he can win this fight if it is a striking affair and believe him to be the more dangerous striker, but that would absolutely be ignoring the path of least resistance. He is a world’s better grappler and will control and ultimately take the back of his opponent. Both KO and submission are in play, but I strongly suspect a rear naked choke with be the method of finish for Duraev.
Roman Kopylov is a sound striker and has enough power. However, that power appears to not fully translate from the regional scene. He is also not a high volume striker and has holes in his grappling game. He will likely be able to keep the fight competitive while it is standing, but will be in a world of hurt once it hits the floor. This is truly a mismatch and one that would have a much wider line if Duraev had any track record in the UFC.
I simply do not see a way Kopylov is able to survive three rounds, and the -135 ITD line, despite being a minus figure, still brings a good deal of value. In a striker vs grappler matchup, the grappler may even be the superior striker, and we will take Duraev to get it done inside the distance.
Betting Pick: Duraev ITD -135
