Colorado vs. Kansas State Odds, Pick Prediction 11/27/20

Colorado Buffaloes (1-0) vs. Kansas State Wildcats (0-1)

The 2020-21 college basketball season continues Friday, November 27, with the Little Apple Classic at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas, where the Kansas State Wildcats host the Colorado Buffaloes.

These two schools haven’t met each other since 2011 when the Buffaloes still played in the Big 12 Conference. Colorado is undefeated in three straight encounters with the Wildcats, covering the spread on all three occasions.

The Buffaloes started the new season on a high note

Colorado put on a strong performance in their opening contest of the 2020-21 college basketball season. The Buffaloes easily outlasted the South Dakota Coyotes 84-61 as 17-point favorites this past Wednesday, snapping a five-game skid.

They shot 40.0% from beyond the arc while limiting the Coyotes to 15.0% shooting from deep. Senior guard McKinley Wright IV led the way with 20 points and six assists, while Jabari Walker and Jeriah Horne combined for 21 points and 10 boards off the bench.

As I’ve mentioned, the Buffaloes finished the previous season on a five-game losing streak while failing to cover the spread in that span. Colorado went 21-11 last term and ended at the sixth spot of the Pac-12 standings thanks to a 10-8 record in the conference play.

The Wildcats disappointed in the opener

The Kansas State Wildcats opened the new season in the same manner they played the previous one. The Wildcats suffered an 80-70 defeat to the Drake Bulldogs as 4-point home favorites this past Wednesday, tallying their 11th loss in the last 13 games overall.

For most of the time, it was a tight game, but the Wildcats struggled down the stretch. They were down 63-60 with five minutes to go in the second half when everything fell apart for the Wildcats who scored just three points in the next four minutes.

The Wildcats shot 44.6% from the field and 36.4% from deep, but their defense was poor, allowing the Bulldogs to make 48.3% of their field goals. Senior guard Mike McGuirl led the way for Kansas State with 22 points and six rebounds, while sophomore guard DaJuan Gordon added 15 points and five boards.

Last season, the Wildcats went 10-21 overall and 3-15 in the conference play to finish bottom of the Big 12.

Trends:

Colorado:

  • 6-2 ATS in the last eight games against Kansas State

Kansas State:

  • 2-4 ATS in the last six games played on Friday

The Winner Prediction

The Wildcats are coming off a terrible season, and Wednesday’s opener showed they still have plenty of problems to solve in their game. On the other side, the Buffaloes played very well in their first outing of the season, so I have to go with Colorado to cover.

The hosts have some serious issues on the defensive end. Furthermore, they are turning the ball over too much, while it seems that the Buffaloes possess greater depth at the moment.

Pick: Take Colorado and the points

The Total:

If they continue to struggle defensively, the Wildcats will be in big trouble against the Buffaloes. Still, Kansas State is certainly capable of putting some decent numbers to the scoreboard, as the offense is a better part of their game, so I’m going with the over.

Six of the Wildcats’ last nine games went in the over, as well as four of their previous five outings in November. Also, the over has hit in each of Colorado’s last five contests.

Pick: Go over
