ATP & WTA Players Announced For ASB Classic 2023 In Auckland With High Prize Money At Stake

The Asb Classic is a series of tournaments ATP 250 and WTA 250 on the ATP and WTA tour that will take place on the hard courts at the ASB Tennis Centre in Auckland, New Zealand.

ASB Tennis Centre is not only known for hosting ASB Classic tennis tournaments, but it is also home to a New Zealand Davis Cup team. The center has 3 indoor courts as well as 9 outdoor including the stadium court. The main show court has a seating capacity of 3,000.

The 2023 ASB Classic is the 36th edition of the tournament for women and the 45th edition for men. It will take place from 2 to 8 January 2023 for the women, and from 9 to 14 January 2023 for the men.

WTA 250 ASB Classic Prize Money

The Prize Money purse at the WTA ASB Classic in Auckland has seen a small decrease for the 2023 tennis season. Total prize money came to – $259,303, down 6.05% from 2020. The champion in Auckland will receive just over 16% of that total – $43,000 if he wins the trophy. The runner-up will receive a small payout, pocketing $21,400 for her efforts. There is a significant drop off in prize money after the semi-final stage, with the two losing players in that round taking home $11,300 each. Those eliminated in the quarter-finals will receive $5,900 for their efforts. First-round losers will walk away with $1,925.

WTA ASB Classic Entry List Will Be Headed by Gauff

The last event in 2020 was won by Serena Williams, beating Jessica Pegula in the final. The American tennis player will not defend her title as she finished her career in 2022

The WTA 250 ASB Classic entry list has been announced and it includes some of the biggest names in tennis. Headlining the event are Coco Gauff and former World. №3 Sloane Stephens. Also included in the field US Open 2021 finalist Leylah Fernandez.

ATP 250 ASB Classic Prize Money

The prize fund of the Atp Asb Classic tournament in Oakland is not yet fully known, but the revealed details of how much participants will receive at different stages of the tournament. The champion in Auckland will receive just over 16% of that total – $89,435 if he wins the trophy. The runner-up will also receive a healthy payout, pocketing $47,105 for his efforts. There is a significant drop off in prize money after the semi-final stage, with the two losing players in that round taking home $25,515 each. Those eliminated in the quarter-finals will receive $14,535 for their efforts. First-round losers will walk away with $5,075.
