West Brom’s 4-man shortlist revealed after Darren Moore’s sacking

West Brom sack Darren Moore

West Brom’s 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town on Saturday in the Championship proved to be the last straw.

Hours after the game, West Brom confirmed that Darren Moore had been sacked as the club’s manager.

Stefan Johansen had fired the Baggies into a fourth minute lead at the Hawthorns. However a Jon Nolan leveller minutes after the restart earned Ipswich a point.

Saturday’s result left West Brom in fourth spot in the Championship.

To be clear, West Brom remain firmly in the playoff picture.

West Brom’s 4-man shortlist revealed

In the Times on Monday morning, four names are linked to the vacant managerial post at West Brom.

The two names at the top of the list are Slavisa Jokanovic and David Wagner.

Jokanovic has been out of a job after he was sacked by Fulham earlier in the season.

However the Times question whether Jokanovic will get the job as “his financial demands could be a stumbling block”.

Wagner is also a free agent after he left his post at Huddersfield Town.

West Brom’s problem in hiring Wagner, say the Times, is that “he has indicated that he could wait until the summer to take a new job”.

The other two names in the running are Aitor Karanka and Nigel Pearson.

Pearson’s history could act against him as he’s previously worked at Derby County and Leicester City.
