No Mesut Ozil, no Alexandre Lacazette
Once again there was no room for either Mesut Ozil or Alexandre Lacazette in Arsenal’s XI on Sunday at Southampton.
Ozil and Lacazette were however named on the bench.
Starting with the German, Ozil is now back again after a spell on the sidelines with a back problem.
However just because Ozil is fit, doesn’t mean he can get into the team.
The sense is growing that Unai Emery isn’t Ozil’s biggest fan.
In a recent away match at Bournemouth, Ozil was left on the bench for tactical reasons.
Has Ozil against missed out because his style isn’t suited to playing a team like Southampton?
As for Lacazette, the French striker has been in an out of the team in recent weeks.
Lacazette suffered an injury in the last international break, and he’s failed to lock down a starting place in Arsenal’s attack since.
Arsenal go four at the back vs Southampton
Emery has changed his formation for the Southampton game.
After a few matches of playing with three at the back, Arsenal will play with a back four against the Saints.
Laurent Koscielny is back from a long term injury. The French centre-half is making his first start of the season.
A big surprise for Arsenal was the absence of Sead Kolasinac for the Southampton game.
