Dave Kitson’s Stoke, Tony Pulis & Arsenal claims may lead to legal charges

Dave Kitson joins The Sun

Weeks before the January transfer window opens, The Sun have made a noticeable signing.

Dave Kitson, the former Premier League striker, is now a columnist for tabloid.

Kitson’s first batch of articles came out on Saturday, and he kicked with a big one: the story of when Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey had his leg broken at Stoke City.

To this day the incident remains controversial.

Stoke fans have been known to troll Ramsey in recent Arsenal visits about his horror leg break.

Tony Pulis & Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey

Stopping short of saying outright that then Stoke manager Tony Pulis instructed Ryan Shawcross to break Aaron Ramsey’s leg, Dave Kitson stated the following:

Thank you!

I heard the crack of Ramsey’s leg from the bench. I heard the screaming.

And the build-up to the game contributed to this moment.

Stoke manager Tony Pulis absolutely despised Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, hated the way he played.

All week I had never seen a manager so desperate to win a game of football, it was bordering on out of control.

Kitson then described how Tony Pulis drilled the likes of Shawcross before the Arsenal game:

Pulis (screamed): “Ryan go across the f****** front — if you miss the ball you f****** well make sure you take someone out.”

Should Dave Kitson prepare for a lawsuit?

According to Rod Liddle in the Sunday Times, Kitson may now be in hot water for his Sun column.

Liddle claims that “a number of lawyers may already be pricking up their little ears” after Kitson’s comments about that Arsenal match.

Could Tony Pulis press charges against Kitson for the suggestion he caused Rasmey’s leg break? Liddle writes:

According to Kitson, it is still a case of cause and effect. Pulis spends a week raving about taking players out and sure enough, come the weekend, that’s exactly what happens.

Liddle points out that Kitson may have some protection if any legal proceedings were started.

For example there’s Ryan Shawcross and his reputation on the field. Shawcross was always a tough tackler, and the centre-half little needed “encouragement to clatter the hell out of someone.”

However then there’s the flip-side. The suggestion that Pulis projected “a form of institutionalised psychosis”,

For the record, Pulis had this to say on Saturday about Kitson’s report:

I’ve been told about the article. I haven’t read it, and that’s God’s honest, I’ll read it and then decide what I’m going to do about it.
