It’s goin’ down, I’m yellin’ timber

Negotiations between Arsenal and Ajax for the transfer of Jurrien Timber have reportedly progressed, according to Dutch news agency De Telegraaf.

According to the source, an agreement has been agreed, and Arsenal will pay Ajax an initial cost of €42 million. Depending on performance bonuses, the fee might increase to €47 million.

While Timber had already agreed to personal terms with Arsenal on Sunday, the verbal agreement is alleged to have been made on Thursday afternoon. The conclusion of the medical exams seems to be the only thing standing in the way of the formal announcement from Arsenal.

Timber, who came to Ajax from Feyenoord’s academy in 2014, has already made 121 appearances for the Eredivisie giants despite his young age. Premier League clubs have expressed interest in him as a result of his strong achievements over the past few of seasons.

The 22-year-old defender started for the Netherlands in the previous World Cup and has 15 caps for his country.

In the upcoming days, Timber’s relocation to London is expected to be completed by the medical exams and player presentation.
