AS Roma and FC Porto have kicked off in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 clash in Porto. While the Italians hold a 2-1 lead over their Portuguese foe, the home team acquitted themselves well in the loss. A marginally better performance in front of their supporters could see them through to the quarterfinals.

Match Preview: The first match at the Olympic Stadium in Rome was fantastic to watch, with both teams unafraid to attack each other and look for goals. Roma had a clear plan to counterattack against Porto’s possession, and the strategy worked wonders as young midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo scored two huge goals that seemed to give the Italians a giant advantage ahead of the second leg. But Adrián López scored a very important goal for Porto, and anything could happen in the second leg.

Because of the away goals rule, Porto can advance to the quarterfinals with a simple 1-0 victory. The good news for them is they’ve won all three Champions League games at home this season, and Moussa Marega scored in every one of those matches at the Estádio do Dragão. If the striker is back to his best after battling a few nagging injuries in recent months, he might be ready to lead Porto to the next stage.

For Roma to advance, they need to defend well and trust that Zaniolo and Edin Dzeko can play as well as they did in Rome. The Italians are small favorites because of their win three weeks ago, but they need to be focused and alert to navigate what should be a really tough night on the road in order to reach the quarterfinals.

This will no doubt be a very good European game, and it’s no exaggeration to say anything can happen. These two teams are very evenly matched, and Porto’s home record gives them hope for a big result. You watch this match and all the action from the Champions League knockout stages with fuboTV.
