The Clásico Capitalino comes at a perfect time in the season, with two matches between two fierce Mexico City rivals deciding a place in the title match. It’s everything a fan of Mexican fútbol could ask for, and if the quarterfinal stage is any indication, these two teams will give us two amazing games.

The #2 seed Águilas were big favorites going into their clash with Toluca, but after 2-2 draw in the first leg, it took an electrifying 3-2 victory in the return leg to send América to the semis with a 5-4 aggregate win. Pumas also had to work hard, needing a 3-1 second-leg win to eliminate Tigres after a 2-1 loss on the road.

Pumas will play the first leg at home, which is great news for them since they’ve never lost such a game in the semifinals (2 wins, 4 draws). The bad news is América have dominated their rival in recent times, with six wins and no losses in the last nine meetings.
