2.05 SANDOWN: Scurry Stakes

SPOOF is no joke in the Scurry Stakes. Charles Hills’ speedster has what it takes to take this Listed contest.

Finishing in the first four last time has been an important trend for winners of this sprint.

So from this year’s hopefuls, we can overlook Haddad, Mokaatil, Sound And Silence, Rock On Baileys and Denham.

That’s a pretty brutal culling before we take the Official Ratings into account. Most winners of this have been rated in three figures.

That spells bad news for Tricksy Spirit on 83 and Wings Of The Rock (75). Youkan doesn’t have a mark yet but he’s not likely to be in that class yet so is also overlooked.

So quickly we have cut the field down to just two hopefuls — Koditime and Spoof.

Both have strong credentials and have won over the distance, which is another must for a Scurry scorer.

Horses that have already won at Sandown have an excellent record with five wins from just 14 contenders.

That tips the scales in favour of SPOOF. He won a nursery over course and distance last year and comes here on the back of a game win at Chester last time out.

He ran with credit in a couple of Group races last term which is another plus.
