"He doesn't know what treble feels like" - Haaland fires back at TAA

Trent Alexander Arnold's statement triggered a nerve in Erling Haaland and the Manchester City striker hasn't hidden his feelings about it, will this play a part in the showdown between the two on Sunday? (Photo credit: Sky Sports)

The epic showdown between the top two sides in the English Premier League is shaping up with feisty comments from players from the two clubs.

Liverpool currently tops the league with a slim margin. This is the first time in a long while that we’ll have a three-horse race with Arsenal just behind Manchester City by two points. This weekend promises to throw in a twist with the top two squaring up at Anfield.

Arsenal is at home to Brentford. The Gunners have been on a scoring rampage with another six past hapless Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Monday, but beyond the visit of the Bees to the Emirates, there is a war of words between the two top teams.

Trent Alexander Arnold stirred up a heated conversation among fans of both clubs, with neutrals choosing sides.

"Looking back on this era, although [City] has won more titles than us and has probably been more successful, our trophies will mean more to us and our fan base because of the financial situations at both clubs," he said.

"How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we've done it probably means more to our fans. It's tough. We're up against a machine that's built to win; that's the simplest way to describe City and their organisation."

In a sharp response to the Liverpool defender, Erling Haaland fired hard and said the treble is a feeling Alexander Arnold cannot understand because he didn’t win it. "If he wants to say that, OK. I've been here one year, and I won the treble, and it was quite a nice feeling. I don't think he knows exactly this feeling."

We’re set for a showdown at Anfield; one point separates the two with eleven games to play. It will definitely go down to the wire this season, with Arsenal also in the mix. This weekend will likely reshape the race; we live for days like this.
