The January transfer window opened only a few days ago; however, deals are already flying to the joy of certain fans and a hell of frustration for others who can’t understand what their clubs are doing.

It might not be marquee signings or names that turn heads, but you can tell it’s a hell of honest work, and depth might just be the main thing addressed by some. Let’s look at the top five deals of the current transfer window.

Jadon Sancho rejoins BVB on loan.

Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho has returned to Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the current season. The England winger fell off the Manchester United squad list completely after challenging the manager’s post-match comment following a 3-1 loss at Arsenal in September.

Tottenham grabs Genoa’s Radu...

Tottenham is probably the busiest Premier League side in the current window, and following injuries to Christian Romero and Micky Van De Ven, the club has snapped up Genoa’s centre-back Radu Dragusin. Ange Postecoglou is certain the defender will fit into his style, and he’s stopping at nothing to get him.

Djed Spence heads the other way.

Remember the wonderkid, Djed Spence, who joined Tottenham from the Championship side in the summer of 2022? He never got his chance with Spurs and has now joined Genoa on loan as the makeweight in the Radu signing. There’s an option to buy in the deal.

Timo Werner joins Spurs

Still on Spurs, former Chelsea forward Timo Werner has joined Tottenham on loan till the end of the season with an option to buy. The man who famously fought the offside flag in his time at Chelsea will lead the line for Tottenham in the absence of Heung Min Son, who is away at the Asian Cup.

Leonardo Bonucci joins Fenerbahçe.

Former Italian captain Leonardo Bonucci has joined Fenerbahçe on a short-term contract until the end of the season from German side Union Berlin. The defender’s illustrious career is winding down, and he’s off to Turkey for what might be his last hurray.
