Five players who must move this January

The transfer window is here again, who are those players who must find a move away this January? (Photo credit: GOAL)

It’s the midway point of the Premier League, and it’s a little tight at the top, but it’s not different at the base, with at least five teams in the mix at both ends of the table.

A few players set their clubs ablaze in the first half of the season, while a few others struggled to get playing time. The two categories would hope to find movements in the January transfer window, and we look at five of them.

  1. Dominic Solanke

There’s a growing scarcity of top strikers in world football, and while you can’t hastily throw Bournemouth Striker Dominic Solanke into that bucket yet, he has impressed greatly with twelve goals this season, and a move to a top club might not be too hard to ask for. Arsenal and Chelsea both need potent strikers. The former has been linked to the Cherries striker; will he get a move?

  1. Evan Ferguson

The Brighton striker has played second fiddle to Joao Pedro in recent games, and while Roberto De Zerbi insists he’s part of his long-term plan, the young striker needs quality playing time ahead of the Olympics as he’d hope to make the Great Britain team. Ferguson netted a hat-trick against Newcastle earlier in the season but has only found the back of the net twice since then; he needs a move away.

  1. Pierre-Emile Hoijberg

Tottenham’s Ange Postecoglou has a way of playing, and it’s clear as day that he doesn’t see Pierre Emile Hoijberg in his midfield. He is behind Giovanni Lo Celso, Oliver Skipp, and Rodrigo Bentancur in the midfield conversation; the trio is right behind Yves Bissouma, Pape Mata Sarr, and Bryan Gil. The Dane isn’t fancied by Postecoglou; he needs to move on.

  1. Ivan Toney

Brentford striker Ivan Toney will be back from suspension and available for selection again following his eight-month doping ban, and he’s been the subject of a move away. Brentford wouldn’t want to sell their talismanic striker, but they have managed without him and could do well without him. Arsenal was touted as interested, but the Gunners could be priced out of the deal.

  1. Jadon Sancho

The former Borussia Dortmund playmaker could be on his way back to the German side, according to reports. Jadon Sancho has fallen out of favor at Manchester United following a social media post; he hasn’t kicked a ball for United since, and he is in discussion to return to Germany on loan till the end of the season. He has to move.
