Chelsea slump to fifth consecutive loss under Frank Lampard

Chelsea's poor form continued under the management of Frank Lampard as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Brentford on Wednesday night, marking the first time the Blues have lost five games in a row in 30 years.

The result leaves the club in 11th place in the Premier League table, with a finish in the top half of the table being the best they can hope for at this point.

It has now been five consecutive losses under Manager Frank Lampard, who has struggled to turn the team's fortunes around since his return to the club.

Lampard had already claimed the unwanted record of becoming the first Chelsea manager in the club's 118-year history to lose his first four games in charge with last week's Champions League loss to Real Madrid.

This latest defeat will only increase the pressure on Frank Lampard.

Chelsea's expensively assembled squad has failed to deliver the desired results, with the team barely laying a glove on their opponents.

The Blues have only managed to score one goal in seven games played in April, making it difficult for them to win matches.

Frank Lampard acknowledged the lack of an attacking threat, saying, "We would love a magic wand, a magic moment. It doesn't come in football because the Premier League moves so fast, it's competitive."

Lampard's poor record as a manager has raised questions about his future as a manager.

He has lost nine of his last 10 league games, including each of his last six, including his time with Everton, where he was sacked on January 23.

While Lampard has taken over a Chelsea side that has long been in a malaise, his alarming slump as a manager cannot be ignored.

The club is currently in a state of flux, with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino being strongly linked with taking over at Stamford Bridge.

The uncertainty off the pitch cannot help matters on it.

Chelsea faces a challenging set of fixtures in the remaining games, with a trip to Arsenal up next.

They also have to face Manchester City, Manchester United, and Newcastle, which will make it difficult for them to end the season on a high note.

Whoever takes over at Chelsea in the summer will have a significant task ahead of them.

The club needs to rebuild and strengthen the squad if they hope to challenge for silverware again.

The pressure will be on the new manager to make the right signings and improve the team's performance on the pitch.

Until then, Frank Lampard will have to focus on getting the best out of his team in the remaining games of the season.

Sky Sports have confirmed that he will continue as Chelsea's caretaker manager until the end of the season.
