Liverpool is in trouble but Jurgen Klopp believes his side can take inspiration from what he calls an improved performance despite crashing out of the FA Cup following a 2-1 loss to Brighton.

The Kops traveled to the Amex to negotiate a Third-Round ticket with the Seagulls and Harvey Elliot continued his scoring form with a fine finish to hand the visitors the lead but the hosts, despite being without their want away midfielder Moises Caicedo fired back through Lewis Dunk.

It’s the third time Liverpool has played Brighton this season and no win was recorded with Brighton earning a hard-fought point at Anfield in the league before handing Liverpool a 3-0 thrashing just two weeks ago at the Amex.

Liverpool has now crashed out of the two cups they won last season and only boasts of three wins in nine games. Their standing on the league table is poor and must start winning games if they want to return to Europe next season.

Kaoru Mitoma scored a brilliant winner, turning Joe Gomez into a club dancer in the process before unleashing a scorcher past Alison in the Liverpool goal. The winner sends Roberto Di Zerbi’s side through to the next round.

"We came here after a couple of weeks with one of the worst performances in my time here, so today it was much better, but still we conceded two goals from set pieces," Klopp told reporters after the match.

"So now we closed the gaps where they passed through last time, but they scored from set pieces.

"We still have space for improvement. We make steps but we have to improve, we have to go further on and we will do that."
