It will be tough to win in Madrid - Thomas Tuchel

Thomas Tuchel believes it is practically impossible for his Chelsea team to beat Real Madrid in the second leg of the UEFA Champions league quarter finals at Santiago Bernabeu but he assured that his team will give a good fight on Tuesday night.

The reigning World European champions lost scandalously in the first leg at the Stamford Bridge Stadium and have to claw back a 3-1 deficit to stand a chance of making it to the last four of the tournament they won last May at the Estadio de Gradao in Portugal.

Tuchel and Chelsea prepared for the visit to Madrid with a 6-0 annihilation of Southampton in the premier league on Saturday, but they have to replicate same form when they play Madrid or see their European title defense come to an end.

"It is one of the biggest challenges to perform away at the Bernabeu," he said. "It is even more difficult if you have to earn a certain result, if you need to win with a minimum of two goals or better or maybe a three-goal difference, that makes it almost impossible and very, very difficult but still it is worth trying.

"It is a stage where you can overperform. We need to overperform. It is not easy but at the same time it is a big experience to learn from and maybe experience to take and overperform.

"It's always allowed to dream and it is sometimes important to imagine things and to dream about it but it will not shift the focus from the fact that we need to deliver and we need to be ready tomorrow.

"We will support our team and we will try hard, it's worth trying in sports and it's a game and it's a beauty of the game that everything is possible always.

"So we will arrive and try everything because it's worth trying and from there we see and hopefully we have we have a match where belief grows within the match by our actions and hopefully we can fulfil our dream, live up to our dream but realistically, we have to invest a lot and be at our very top level."

Karim Benzema’s hattrick put Real Madrid in the driving seat for this affair but the Blues will be without Romelu Lukaku as confirmed by Tuchel due to an Achilles’ heel problem and Chelsea must up their physical strength to stand a chance against Real who have won seven of their last nine at home in Europe.
