Joy on the road! 7 premier league clubs found points away from home

Looking up! Reece James powered Chelsea to a 3-0 win at St. James's Park with a brace, ensuring the Blues stay top in the premier league.

The 2020/2021 premier league season saw huge numbers of away wins and that was understandably down to the unavailability of fans due to covid restrictions but the round 10 of the new season witnessed seven away wins and there’s still a fixture to go.

Home fortress isn’t only for the team to pride in but also for their fans who desperately need the bragging rights, and if there’s anything you can hand them as reward for their undying support, it’s a strong showing right before them.

Arsenal started the away team party with a 2-0 win at the King Power Stadium, it was a resolute showing by the Gunners who one can now say have turned the corner after going seven unbeaten in the Premier League, that includes five wins and four clean sheets.

That was quickly followed by Southampton’s 1-0 win away at Vicarage Road, and what a goal by Che Adams to down Watford, a result that lifted the Saints to 14th, one point and two places above Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Chelsea at about the same time traveled to Newcastle and if there was any surprise on the day, it was certainly not about the score line but the scorers as Reece James volleyed home twice, on both legs and Kai Havertz won a penalty that Jorginho converted, Newcastle billionaires should be worried now.

The biggest one would be at the Etihad where yet again, Crystal Palace shocked the champions with a performance that was powered by luck.

The Cityzens were reduced to ten men after Aymeric Laporte fell Wilfred Zaha who was through on goal, a man down and a goal down before halftime, the signs were there that Pep Guardiola’s side was starring defeat in the face, Connor Gallagher completed the day for the Eagles, another away win.

Liverpool was expected to halt the run of away teams but Brighton said no, the Seagulls came back from two goals down to earn a valuable point at Anfield, they could have grabbed the entire three but for the offside flag that denied Leandro Trossard his brace.

Burley were the only home side to taste victory. A dominant performance against Brentford saw them leapfrog Newcastle, they sit in the red zone still but they can pick things from there and hope for an up north November.

The away story continued with Manchester United who travelled to North London and sounded Spurs three times, boosted by Cristiano Ronaldo’s magical one time finish and assist to his partner, Edison Cavani before Marcus Rashford came off the bench to complete the rout.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer with his head on the line tweaked things upfront and it paid off, but that only meant one thing for Nuno Espirito Santo as his own fans have turned on him and only results can save him, there were even rumors that Daniel Levy has already started thinking of a replacement…

It didn’t end there, Sunday fixtures also served away wins in abundance as the two games ended in favor of the traveling sides;

Norwich hosted Leeds United with the hope of halting a run of results that already meant they might be doing it down below again next season and Leeds United, also struggling found ways to make them regret having them.

Raphinha and Rodrigo scored on either side of Omobamidele’s header, leaving Daniel Farke’s side without a win in ten attempts, only two points registered and three goals scored, no one ever recorded such and survived.

Finally as we await the final fixture with Wolves traveling to Everton on Monday, Westham went to Aston Villa and beat Dean Smith’s side emphatically.

Villa will rue the red card to Ezri Konsa but they weren’t assured and were well punished by David Moyes’ side; speaking of the Hammers, they are fast proving that they’re not a fluke, level on points with the champions, just two points Liverpool who are second and five off Chelsea at the top.
