If you ever thought Manchester United was going to win the premier league, it’s still early days but you might want to change your mind, not just because they lost at the King Power stadium to Leicester City but the manner in which they did left so much to be desired.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer was able to call on Harry Maguire, and that papered the cracks left by the injury to Raphael Varane, and the entire stadium was delighted to see another name on the United bench, Dr. Marcus Rashford.

If a former Leicester man was at the heart of it all for United in Maguire, a former Manchester United man was at the heart of the defense for Leicester as Brendan Rodgers was also able to call on the services of Johnny Evans who was out injured all along.

The game took off to a fine start with the home side pulling early strings through Kelechi Iheanacho, but all eyes were on how Leicester would cope with the absence of Wilfred Ndidi, the midfield of Tielemans, Soumare, Castagne and Maddison had it all to do.

The end to end stuff eventually gave birth to the opening goal; Bruno Fernandes received a simple pass from Aaron Wan Bissaka and didn’t waste time before feeding Mason Greenwood, the youngster turned inside his left and released a scorcher to the top right corner. 1-0.

After a few failed attempts, the Foxes got themselves back into the game. Iheanacho caught Maguire in possession and laid it on a plate for Tielemans who executed brilliantly with an effort that beat David De Gea cleanly.

If the first half was eventful, the second half proved even more interesting. End to end but the Foxes ultimately exposed the frailties in the United team.

Manchester United were showing everything about their season, individual brilliance followed by collective incompetence; Caglar Soyuncu headed Leicester in front midway into the second half and substitute Rashford thought he had bailed out his manager, Leicester had other ideas.

Rashford’s goal is worth talking about, apart from getting one on his season debut, Victor Lindelof’s 40 yard pass to the 3 Lions’ forward is worth every penny, and while United were still celebrating that goal, they were picking the ball from their own net.

Just 54 seconds after Rashford’s emphatic strike, Jamie Vardy was wheeling away in celebration with a goal of huge significance after firing Leicester in front off a pass from Ayoze Perez.

United were meant to respond but it was Leicester that hit them on the break through substitute Patson Daka. The Zambian hit his first league goal at the expense of the Old Trafford outfit, heaping more pressure on Solkjaer.

The 4-2 defeat at the King Power stadium ended United’s run of 29 away games unbeaten, and up next for the Red Devils in the league are Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City, will United still be in the title mix after then?
