After being found guilty of "insulting another player" in Austria's Euro 2020 triumph over North Macedonia on Sunday, Uefa has suspended Marko Arnautovic for one match.

Captain David Alaba had to restrain Arnautovic, who is of Serbian descent, as he celebrated his late goal.

Arnautovic appeared to make a remark on opponents Egzon Bejtulai and Gjanni Alioski, both of whom have Albanian heritage.

After the match, Arnautovic stated that he is "not a racist."

The 32-year-old was found guilty of wrongdoing, although his acts were not considered discriminatory by Uefa.

In an Instagram post, Arnautovic apologised for his goal celebration.

He expressed himself as follows: "There were some heated words yesterday in the emotions of the game for which I would like to apologise, especially to my friends from North Macedonia and Albania.

"I would like to say one thing very clearly: I am not a racist.

"I have friends in almost every country and I stand for diversity. Everyone who knows me is aware of that."

"Serbia does not recognise Kosovo's independence, and there is a long history of hostility between Serbia and North Macedonia.

On Thursday, Austria will meet the Netherlands at the Johan Cruyff Arena, while North Macedonia will face Ukraine.
