Nottingham Forest have secured the signing of Brazil youngster Danilo from Palmeiras who was a target for Arsenal last summer.
The Gunners had submitted two bids in the last transfer window with an initial bid of £18m. But Palmeiras were not ready to accept any offer less than £30m for the midfielder.
Arsenal’s interest in Danilo had cooled since the summer, with Mikel Arteta’s side initially planning to negotiate for the midfielder after the end of the ongoing campaign. Forest were quick to react and have agreed a fee of €20 million with Palmeiras and the player will arrive in England for a medical this weekend. Chelsea and Monaco were also interested in the youngster.
Forest have also signed another Brazilian from the same team in the form of Gustavo Scarpa as a free agent.
Danilo had already become a regular at Palmeiras at the age of 21 since joining the club as a teenager.
