Manchester United Weighing Move for RB Salzburg Striker Benjamin Sesko

As per the reports in England, Manchester United have added RB Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko to their transfer shopping list. The Red Devils are weighing up a move for the Slovenian international in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his desire to leave Old Trafford, forcing new manager Erik Ten Hag to look for alternatives in case they need to replace the wantaway Portuguese star. According to The Sun, Ten Hag has identified 19-year-old Benjamin Sesko as an option and has been keeping tabs on the RB Salzburg striker for a potential move before the transfer window shuts down.

Manchester United currently have the services of Antony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo up front at their disposal, with the latter being uncertain about his future at Old Trafford.

With Edinson Cavani leaving on free transfer and doubts about whether Mason Greenwood will ever play for the club again, Erik ten Hag has realised the need for attacking reinforcements and is likewise looking for players in the market who will strengthen the squad for the next season.

In order to bolster their frontline, Manchester United are set to explore their attacking options by shortlisting Benjamin Sesko. The Red Devils are genuinely interested in a deal for the Bundesliga striker. Earlier, the United Director of Football John Murtough reportedly met with the agent of Sesko to discuss a potential move for the 19-year-old.

Benjamin Sesko came into the limelight in the pre-season friendly against Liverpool, where the young chap scored the winner against Jurgen Klopp’s men in red.

It is then that the transfer talks began to heat up for the Slovenian international, who nevertheless is bound by a contract until 2026 at RB Salzburg. Sesko has managed to score 10 goals, and assist seven times in 36 appearances (stats via Transfermarkt) across all competitions last season.

Apart from Sesko, Ten Hag has even said to have approached 20-year-old Brian Brobbey earlier, but the striker opted to convert his loan spell at Ajax into a permanent deal. The Dutch coach is also claimed to be interested in Brazilian winger Antony, who also played under the manager at Ajax.

Along with this, the top hierarchy of Manchester United are also not ready in giving up on FC Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong and are still attempting to prise him away from the Camp Nou.

No doubt the recent signings of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, and Lisandro Martinez will all help bolster the team but the Dutch boss is still hoping to bring in recruitments that will lead to the club’s success. Regardless, time will tell how things unfold for the topflight Premier League club.
