It is almost certain that Jeremy Mathieu is finally heading away from Barcelona. After the club made an announcement that he will be joining Sporting Lisbon on a trial basis.

The France defender will train with the Portuguese club for the next coming weeks, after which a decision between both clubs will be made on his future.

It is not like the usual kind of move, but it certainly leaves open the possibility that Mathieu could be heading back to the Camp Nou if he fails to impress in Portugal.

Meanwhile, some huge changes have happened within the Barca B side; the team is fresh from their promotion to the Segunda Division.

Barca has confirmed that Gerard Lopez will remain as Barca B coach while Gabri García and Quique Álvarez will also continue being in charge of the U19A and B teams respectively.

However, five players have now parted ways with the club after their contracts expired: goalkeeper Jose Aurelio Suarez, midfielders Josep Miquel Fernandez, Gerard Gumbo and Xena and lastly forward Alberto Perea.

Barca also confirmed that defender Borja Lopez also left the club, after he terminated his contract.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Adria Portola will be heading back to the Camp Nou after his loan spell with Alaves, last season.

This departure will obviously see more questions asked of the club and their policy regarding young prospects.

Although Carles Alena recently signed a new deal, Jordi Mboula already left for Monaco in France, Eric Garcia is heavily linked with a move to join Manchester City, and Lee Seung-woo has admitted he could move on.
