Swansea to sign Las Palmas midfielder Roque Mesa?

The Swansea City manager Paul Clement has set a the Las Palmas central Midfielder Roque Mesa as one of his main transfer targets this summer. Mesa is a 28-year old Spaniard, who has played in 126 games for Las Palmas, scoring 6 goals. He is expected to cost the Swans around £10 million.

Mesa has been an important player for Las Palmas in their successful campaign in Segunda Division in season 2015/2016, when the team got promoted to the Spanish topflight. He has also impressed in the La Liga with his performances and was one of the Las Palmas best players last season.

Roque Mesa is the second major signing for Swansea, who have previously secured a season-long loan with Chelsea for the England’s E-21 star striker Tammy Abraham.

According to Whales Online Swansea need Roque Mesa, because “he is perhaps the archetypal Swansea player. He’s not the biggest in stature – 5ft 7in – but he’s of the same mould of one or two others of similar size in the Swans’ midfield in recent years. Las Palmas have won plenty of fans for the attractive passing football they have played and Mesa has been seen as key to that”.
