Former featherweight title challengers and general all-action competitors Brian Ortega and Chan Sung Jung throw down in a long-awaited main event, a Fight which is expected to determine who gets the next shot at champion Alexander Volkanovski.

The last time we saw him in the octagon, he suffered his first career loss, a one-sided affair against then-featherweight champ Max Holloway at UFC 231 before the bout was waved off by the doctor at the end of the fourth round.

In one sense, Ortega’s long layoff — which was compounded by a knee injury that scuttled the first attempt at making this fight last December, then by the pandemic — would seem to leave an obvious question about whether “T-City” will suffer from ring rust upon his return.

Going all the way back to his legendary WEC 48 fight with Leonard Garcia in 2010, Jung has consistently put in the type of firefights that thrill onlookers but usually take years off a fighter’s career.

If Andrade can win here and look good in the process, she’s marked herself as a real contender in a third weight class, and there aren’t too many fighters in UFC history who can make that claim.

Mandel Nallo isn’t going to be one of those fighters who acts like a fight ending low blow barely landed, as he knew he got Saad Awad good.
