NASA Astronaut Christina Koch made history Saturday, setting the record for the longest single spaceflight by a woman.
"We see another aspect of how the human body is affected by microgravity for the long term, and that's really important for our future spaceflight plan going forward to the moon and to Mars."
The spacewalk lasted for seven hours and 17 minutes, and the astronauts received a phone call from President Donald Trump as they completed the mission.
Koch said she hopes the record for Longest Spaceflight by a female astronaut will be exceeded again as soon as possible again, because it means "we're continuing to push those boundaries."
