Eagles waive Blake Countess, bring back a defensive tackle

The Eagles have brought back defensive tackle Aziz Shittu and waived safety Blake Countess with an injury settlement to make room for their new defender.

Shittu was signed by the Eagles as an undrafted free agent back in 2016, but he was released ahead of the regular season.

He was then re-signed in 2017, but ultimately ended up on IR with a knee injury — he still earned a Super Bowl ring though.

The Eagles then released him in September 2018 before he was picked up and added to the Cowboys ’ practice squad for the season.

The DT played for three years at Stanford from 2013-2015, getting snaps in just 21 games, but recorded 77 total tackles, 16.5 for loss, and 4.5 sacks.

His injury opens a path for either Johnathan Cyprien or Tre Sullivan to make the team.
