Hubble Telescope Finds 'Electric Soccer Balls' In Space, Potential Origin Of Life, Planets

In their latest discovery, scientists found new materials floating in space that may provide traces of origins of life and planets.

"The diffuse ISM can be considered as the starting point for the chemical processes that ultimately give rise to planets and life," Martin Cordiner, one of the researchers from the Catholic University of America, Washington, said in a statement .

Previous studies suggested that stars and planets form from collapsing clouds of gas and dust.

"The diffuse ISM was historically considered too harsh and tenuous an environment for appreciable abundances of large molecules to occur," Cordiner said.

“The appearance of the DIBs indicate the presence of a large amount of carbon-rich molecules in space, some of which may eventually participate in the chemistry that gives rise to life,” Cordiner said.

The researchers aim to seek C60+ in more environments in space to see the amount of the Electric Soccer Balls in the universe.
