Top Michigan signee Jalen Wilson 'in shock' over John Beilein's exit

"I was just in shock," Wilson told the Free Press over the phone Monday night.

Shortly after, news broke that Beilein had interviewed with the Detroit Pistons for a head coaching job.

In the immediate aftermath of Monday's news, Wilson heard from Michigan's staff — assistant coaches Luke Yaklich, Saddi Washington and DeAndre Haynes.

Wilson, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound small forward, also reached out to Cole Bajema , his fellow signee in the class of 2019.

Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel 'surprised' by John Beilein's departure to Cleveland Cavaliers, May 13, 2019.
