Two Lehigh Valley-connected theater designers lose at tonight's Tony Awards


Two veterans of Broadway with ties to the Lehigh Valley, nominated for a total of four Tony Awards, lost in their categories tonight.


Ann Roth of Lower Mount Bethel Township had two nominations for Best Costume Design of a Play: for her work on "Three Tall Women” and "The Iceman Cometh.” And she had a nomination for Best Costume Design of a Musical for her work on “Carousel.”


Best Costume Design of a Play went to Katrina Lindsay for “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Parts One and Two” and Best Costume Design of a Musical went to Catherine Zuber for “My Fair Lady.”


Broadway and film scenic designer Santo Loquasto, formerly of Easton.


Santo Loquasto, formerly of Easton, was nominated for Best Scenic Design of a Play for his work on "The Iceman Cometh.” He lost to Christine Jones for “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: Parts One and Two.”


The awards were announced before the live broadcast of the 72nd annual Tony Awards hosted by Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban from New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.


She's been nominated for an Emmy numerous times and won a Career Achievement Award in 2003 from the Costume Designers Guild.
