The 43-year old Pruitt’s rise to Knoxville was obviously influenced by both, spending time on Saban and Richt led staffs en route to 128-31 record as an assistant coach.
We’ll see if that translates into wins in Knoxville on football Saturdays, but it didn’t take long for the Vols to heat up on the recruiting trail following Pruitt’s hiring.
Tennessee’s latest commitment came from arguably the nation’s top Juco offensive tackle in Jahmir Johnson who announced his decision on Thursday evening over his other finalists Missouri and USC.
He secured signatures from Cordova (Tenn.) High teammates in four-star offensive tackle Jerome Carvin and running back Jeremy Banks who were both heavily recruited.
It’s obvious when Pruitt took the job he wasn’t working from a Plan B recruit list and that will continue in January leading up to the final National Signing Day on Feb. 7.
