Rypien had passes of 22 and 5 yards on consecutive plays to TE Alec Dhaenens to get into Fresno State territory, and freshman WR Octavius Evans had a key third-down catch early.
Key plays: QB Marcus McMaryion had consecutive completions of 12, 11, 36 and 5 yards after an incompletion to start the drive, and Mims capped it off with a 2-yard run and the 1-yard plunge for the score.
Boise State senior tight end Jake Roh will not play because of a lower leg injury he suffered late in Nov. 18’s win over Air Force.
The team traveled three healthy tight ends in senior Alec Dhaenens, sophomore Matt Pistone and redshirt freshman John Bates.
The CBS Sports Network broadcasters said Boise State hopes to have Roh back next week but he was shown on the sideline wearing a medical boot and sitting on a mobility scooter.
