Seven days after it dominated Vanderbilt in an epic rout, the Crimson Tide destroyed Ole Miss, 66-3, reducing the Rebels to rubble.
Moments later, cornerback Levi Wallace intercepted Patterson and returned the ball 35 yards to the end zone to give the Tide a 14-0 lead with 9:20 left in the first quarter.
A blitz by Fitzpatrick led Patterson to rush his delivery and throw the errant pass that was picked off by Wallace and returned for a touchdown.
It was the kind of play Alabama frequently made in 2016, and not surprisingly the Tide's defense is starting to resemble last year's edition.
Eventually, Hurts exited stage right, allowing understudy Tua Tagovailoa a chance to work over the Rebels' defense.
