The Seattle Sounders are taking on the Portland Timbers on Sunday at CenturyLink Field (6:30 p.m. PT; FS1, KIRO Radio 97.3 FM, El Rey 1360AM) in their third and final regular-season matchup.
- Clint Dempsey , Osvaldo Alonso and Roman Torres all return to the startling lineup after the team’s midweek draw at Vancouver.
Dempsey and Alonso came on as second-half substitutes, while Torres remained in Seattle to rest.
- Gustav Svensson was called into Sweden’s national team for the first time since January 2016 and has been granted permission to leave early for Sweden’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches against Bulgaria on Aug. 31 and Belarus on Sept. 3.
Svensson, who left Seattle on Saturday, made a formal request to leave early to help his country and boost his chances of making a World Cup roster, and the Sounders technical staff granted his request.
