Alabama secures top spot in AP college football poll


When it comes to college football, Alabama is on top again ahead of the 2017 season.


The team won the majority of the votes for first place -- 52 out of 61 -- totaling a whopping 1,513 points.


1 at the beginning of a season four times with coach Nick Saban at the helm, but he has yet to win them a championship the same year the team received the AP's top Preseason ranking.


2 ranking, narrowly preventing the first opening game between the AP's two top-ranked teams since the preseason Poll began in 1950.


5, having lost quarterback and title game MVP Deshaun Watson to the NFL.
