E-bikes in Cornwall – what’s all the fuss about?

E-bikes seem to be popping up everywhere, whether you’re commuting on one in the city or enjoying the beautiful Cornish landscape with a little extra help, you’re never too far away from one. But what’s all the hype about? Are they worth it?

What exactly is an E-bike?

Electric bikes are pedal bikes that come with an extra motor that you can engage to help you out on steep climbs or long journeys. Depending on the bike, you can either plug the whole thing in to charge or remove the battery and charge it at home. They’re a great way of getting around and not only make your journey more comfortable, but they’re better for the environment than a car or motorbike too.

What you need to know about E-bikes

THEY’RE GREEN

E-bikes are an environmentally friendly way to get around. Unlike cars and motorbikes, you don’t need to fill them up with petrol or diesel. They also don’t emit gasses that contribute to global warming. Check out a great read on Rad Power Bikes here…

THEY MAKE LIFE THAT LITTLE BIT EASIER

You can tackle different routes on an e-bike. If you’ve been avoiding a particular trail because there’s a steep hill or it’s a bit too long, an e-bike can help you get to the top with no extra effort.

They’re also much more inclusive because elderly people or less fit people will be able to ride them without the stress of thinking they won’t be able to get back. They’re a great mode of transport on family holidays so that everyone can get involved.

IT’S JUST LIKE RIDING A BIKE

Really! If you can ride a standard bike you can ride an e-bike. There’s no need for any extra experience or gear. Just hop on and head to wherever you’re going!

YOU WON’T ACTUALLY GO MUCH FASTER

By law, e-bikes can’t go any faster than 15.5 mph. The speed isn’t really what makes the difference between a standard bike and an e-bike. It’s the fact that you can always be cycling at 15.5 mph if you want to – even uphill, in windy weather conditions or when your legs are tired.

E-BIKES ARE STILL EXERCISE

Going out on an e-bike rather than a standard bike isn’t cheating! You still have to pedal but you’ve got a bit of a backup for when the trail gets tricky or you get tired. In fact, some people do even more exercise on an e-bike because it allows them to go further and explore the area around them more!

THEY’RE CONVENIENT

Whether you’re commuting or going out to experience the local countryside, e-bikes can be way more convenient than other forms of transport. You won’t be stuck in traffic and can stop to take in the views whenever you want. You also won’t have to find a parking space, all you need is a lock!

There’s no denying it, e-bikes definitely make life easier. And they’re really fun! They are, however, much more expensive than most regular bikes. A great way to enjoy them is to hire them on holiday. We offer various e-bikes for you to use and enjoy on your holiday in Cornwall. Not sure if you should rent an e-bike on your holiday? Here are a few reasons why e-bikes are perfect for Cornwall.
