Weekend Adventure | Why traveling alone & having no experience shouldn’t stop you.

Discoverthebenifitsofsolotavelling…

Are you tired of reading about a Weekend Adventure, but unable to find someone to join you or are you fearful of giving it a go on your own?  Not having a friend join you, or not having experience with an activity are not valid reasons to forgo adventures. Those are both reasons to jump at the opportunity to take part in the adventure!

65% of people on our Adventure Weekends are solo travellers

A Weekend Adventure is more fun when shared, but it doesn’t have to be shared with people you already know. Why? It can often be difficult to plan a weekend away with friends because of scheduling. Their schedule might not match up with yours. Your friend’s budget might not allow room for anything beyond necessities currently, or a weekend adventure might not be a high priority in their budget. And finally, friends can be part of your comfort zone when we are traveling, but they can also be a hindrance to your experience. They might not share your enthusiasm for the activity that you are so keen to try. When they join you on an adventure that is your dream and not theirs, they can be distracting which diminishes your experience and enjoyment.

Meet like minded people

Let go of the idea that you must travel with friends. Be courageous and try it solo. When you go on a Weekend Adventure alone, it gives you a chance to meet new people and expand your circle of friends. You get to meet travelers with similar interests who could possibly become future travel friends. You can also meet people from backgrounds different from your own. This can be a learning experience and help make all of us better world citizens.

No experience necessary

The lack of experience with an activity is another reason many people are fearful of giving a new adventure a try. If you never try it, you will never have experience with it! Pick an adventure and commit to trying it. If you keep delaying trying a new activity, you just keep making more excuses as to why you can’t or shouldn’t do it.

If you are alone, you can let go of the fear of embarrassing yourself in front of friends. Strangers have no preconceived notions of your experience level and they have a good chance of being in the same situation you are in. The participation in the adventure will help you create a bond with the others engaging in it. Give yourself time to become skilled at an activity and then you can go home and brag to your friends how great you were at it. They don’t need to know you failed a few times before you succeeded.

Embrace solo travel as the benefits will help transform you. Going solo can genuinely be a life-altering experience. Your confidence will grow. You can connect with your surroundings more and enjoy the adventure in your own way. You can focus on your personal experience and not worry whether your friends are enjoying it. You can connect with people who your friends might not hit it off with. So get out there and challenge yourself to do something out of the ordinary.
