In this game, the Timberwolves were shorthanded due to the absence of Rudy Gobert, Jaden McDaniels, and Naz Reid due to injuries. The Lakers eventually secured a 108-102 overtime victory, despite the fact that it wasn’t pretty, to set up a first-round showdown with the Memphis Grizzlies that will begin on Sunday.

Davis finished with 24 points, 15 rebounds, three blocked shots, two steals, and six assists to James’ 30 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Off the bench, Schroder contributed 21 points and four assists.

The Lakers nearly prevailed throughout regulation. The ball bounced from James’ right hand, with 21.7 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and the score tied. He skidded in the air as he drove baseline before launching the ball to the corner where Schroder was waiting in front of the Minnesota bench.

The veteran guard made all three of his free throws to force overtime, but win 20 would have to wait as Anthony Davis fouled him with 0.1 seconds left in regulation on a corner three. Timberwolves were simply out of gas in the final period, even if it wore them out in the fourth. The Lakers took advantage of the circumstance, winning a game that left players on both teams gasping for oxygen.
