Karim Benzema Not Included in Real Madrid Squad For Club World Cup Semi-Final

Karim Benzema, who suffered an injury during Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Valencia in a La Liga fixture at the start of February, has been left out of Los Blancos’ squad for their FIFA Club World Cup semi-final clash with Al-Ahly.

Real Madrid announced on February 6 their squad for the match against Al-Ahly, and Karim Benzema was not among the names listed.

The match between Real Madrid and Al-Ahly kicks off at 12:30 am Indian Standard Time on February 9. The game will be played at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Morocco.

Real Madrid have qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final as the defending Champions League winners. Al-Ahly, meanwhile, booked their place in the semi-final after defeating Auckland City 3-0 in the first round and then Seattle Sounders 1-0 in the second round.

Apart from Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois has also not made it to the Real Madrid Squad for their clash with Al-Ahly.

Thibaut Courtois, who is Real Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper, suffered an injury during the warmup ahead of their La Liga clash with RCD Mallorca last week. He was withdrawn from the starting XI after initially being named in it after sustaining an adductor problem on his left leg.

Eder Militao, Lucas Vazquez, and Ferland Mendy are also not included in the Real Madrid squad that will travel to Morocco for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final clash. Eden Hazard has also not made the cut.

Karim Benzema, Thibaut Courtois, and Eder Militao could, however, be in contention to play if Real Madrid defeats Al-Ahly and book their place in the final of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Here’s the Real Madrid squad for the FIFA Club World Cup semi-final clash with Al-Ahly:

Goalkeepers: Lunin, Luis López and Cañizares.

Defenders: Carvajal, Alaba, Vallejo, Nacho, Odriozola, Rüdiger and Marvel.

Midfielders: Kroos, Modrić, Camavinga, Valverde, Tchouameni, D. Ceballos, Mario Martín and Arribas.

Attackers: Asensio, Vini Jr., Rodrygo, and Mariano.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid head into the game against Al-Ahly on the back of their shock 1-0 defeat to RCD Mallorca. The defeat leaves Real Madrid eight points behind table-toppers Barcelona, who have 53 points from 20 matches, in La Liga.
