Mitchell Johnson Explains Australia’s Game Plan Against India

Australian players including Steven Smith, Mitchell Starc, and David Warner have admitted that winning the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is more difficult than winning the Ashes, especially in India.

Cricket fans all across the world are excitedly awaiting the start of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The BGT is particularly important in terms of the World Test Championship since India can play in the finals if they win the series.

Former Australia fast bowler Mitchell Johnson has some advice for the Australian team. He urged the Pat Cummins-led squad to bat first and put pressure on the Indian team ahead of the opening game in Nagpur.

Following the first Test at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur, both teams will play three further Tests in New Delhi (February 17-21), Dharamshala (March 1-5), and Ahmedabad (March 9-13).

Cricket Australia published a throwback video of India’s previous visit to the country ahead of the Border-Gavaskar series. The video features highlights from the match in which India got all-out for 36 runs.

The video caught the attention of several Indian fans, including former cricketer Aakash Chopra. Netizens reacted quickly to the video, slamming Cricket Australia.

Australia will be hoping for a turnaround this time after losing the previous series. Since 2004, the Kangaroos have not won a Test series on Indian soil. They will be hoping for a better series this time.

From India’s standpoint, the last series was genuinely noteworthy, as the visitors, led by Ajinkya Rahane, battled a number of injuries and pulled off a miraculous victory over a powerful Australian team.

India has the opportunity to play WTC 2021-23 Finals

India has the opportunity to play WTC 2021-23 Finals.

For the second time in a row, India may compete in the ICC World Test Championship finals. To advance to the finals, Rohit Sharma’s team must win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy by a margin of 2-0 or 3-1.

Australia currently leads the WTC standings with a victory percentage of 75.56. Australia is followed by India and Sri Lanka, which have victory percentages of 58.93 and 53.33, respectively.

Meanwhile, Australia will be hoping for vengeance this time, since India will field a far stronger unit at home. The batting unit will be led by skipper Rohit Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Virat Kohli.

R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel will also be eager to get their arms rolling in home conditions, which have a history of helping the spinners.
