Max Verstappen Received Criticism for His Rant at Virtual Le Mans

Max Verstappen, the current double-world champion, was lambasted by F1 analyst Peter Windsor for his actions during the hoopla surrounding the Virtual Le Man’s 24-hour race.

When the feed collapsed in the middle of the race, Max Verstappen accused the organizers of improper race management and called the entire thing a “clown show.”

Windsor, a former Williams and Ferrari team manager, was not pleased with the Dutch driver’s alleged “hissy fit” and urged him to set a better example considering his standing in the racing industry.

Windsor referred to Max Verstappen as “petulant” while live-streaming on Twitch, adding:

“That is actually a little petulant. Max Verstappen became a little irritated because of the simulation he was playing. I believe it was a Virtual Le Mans’s race—was packed up before the finish line.”

“Max Verstappen got upset about it as if technological errors never occurred. He should be setting an example for the younger generation and the generation he is in. Come on, really. I like Max Verstappen. But I think someone should be yelling, ‘Max, Max, Max.’ Be composed. Keep being you. Avoid being an irate idiot; that’s just stupid.”

“A World Champion should conduct himself with some decency and etiquette.” Peter Windsor on Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen continued to receive scathing criticism from Peter Windsor, who stated that a world champion in Formula One has to conduct himself with greater grace and respect in such circumstances.

He stated, according to PlanetF1: “A World Champion needs to demonstrate a little bit of decorum and decency, and needs to set a little bit of an example by not getting agitated, furious, or annoyed over anything other than things related to his own world—in the cockpit where he is racing and the car he is driving.”

“However, it is juvenile to start feeling irritated when sim games go awry. I’ve already used the phrase three times, and I have no regrets.”, added Verstappen.

As a well-known enthusiast of virtual and simulator racing, Max Verstappen frequently competes in online races in between F1 events. In order to stay fresh for the F1 weekend, he even competes in the simulated races. It would be fascinating to see whether he responds to Peter Windsor’s criticisms of his actions.
