IPL 2023: 5 Indian Stadiums That Can Host an IPL Match for the First Time

IPL 2023: The IPL 2023 will start in around two months. The greatest T20 competition of the year will probably commence in the final week of March or the first week of April, however, the tournament’s official start date has not yet been confirmed.

The IPL will use a home-and-away schedule this year for the first time since the 2019 season. Half of each IPL franchise’s league-stage games will be played on the team’s home field.

Fans have probably noticed throughout the years that the IPL franchises also opt to host a few of their matches in another location. The IPL season in 2023 may follow the same pattern, and the following five cities may host an IPL game for the first time.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are an American football team that plays at Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium. India and New Zealand recently competed in a T20I match at the location.

LSG made its IPL debut last season, although they were unable to host any of their home games in Lucknow. This year will mark the opening of the Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium, which will host the IPL 2023, which will use a home-and-away format.

4. Barkatullah Khan Stadium, Jodhpur

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) have played their home games at Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur, but in 2020 they expressed interest in doing so as well.

The Barkatullah Khan Stadium in Jodhpur is one of the stadiums that could serve as an alternative location for RR. Last year, the location played host to Legends League Cricket. According to sources, the BCCI team has arrived in Jodhpur to assess whether the location satisfies the requirements for holding IPL games.

3. Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram

Even though Kerala boasts some of the most ardent cricket supporters, the state currently lacks an IPL team of its own. The current IPL franchises might think about going to Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram during IPL 2023.

Sanju Samson, the captain of the Rajasthan Royals, is a native of Kerala, where Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and MS Dhoni also have a strong fan base. The 55,000-seat capacity is another feature that can draw IPL teams.

2. New Stadium of Baroda

The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will serve as the primary home field for the Gujarat Titans. The defending champions might want to hold one or two home matches at one of Gujarat’s other venues rather than the largest cricket stadium in the world.

The Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot has already served as the site of IPL games, but the new stadium in Baroda might make its IPL debut in 2023.
