After The Cowboys’ Defeat, There Are Rumors That Dan Quinn May Have A Second Interview With The Cardinals To Become Their Head Coach

Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys, is scheduled for a second interview with the Arizona Cardinals after the Cowboys were eliminated from the playoffs in the NFC Divisional Round.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Cardinals are flying Dan Quinn into town on Tuesday night for a second interview about their open post of head coach.

On Friday, the Denver Broncos conducted an interview with Dan Quinn in advance of the playoff game that the Cowboys were scheduled to play against the San Francisco 49ers. 

On the same day, he also had a conversation with representatives from the Indianapolis Colts.

According to Pelissero, Dan Quinn is a leading contender to join both the Broncos and the Colts

According to Jon Heath of Broncos Wire, Dan Quinn and George Paton, the general manager of the Denver Broncos, worked together for two seasons with the Miami Dolphins in 2005 and 2006. While Paton served as Nick Saban’s director of pro personnel, Dan Quinn was responsible for the defensive line coaching duties on the staff.

After a tumultuous 2022 season, the Cardinals are seeking to restore some kind of order and consistency to their franchise. In the midst of the team’s problems, it appeared like Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray had grown distant.

According to a report that was published on December 23 by Jeremy Fowler and Josh Weinfuss of ESPN, Kingsbury and Murray had become “increasingly distant” during the course of the season.

After a 4-13 season under Kingsbury’s leadership, Arizona fired him on January 9th, 2022

The Cardinals finished in first place for the third time in his four seasons as head coach of the team. 500 or worse. Since 2016, they have had only one appearance in the postseason.

Just recently, Dan Quinn finished his second season serving as the defensive coordinator for the Cowboys. In each of the past two seasons, his team’s defense has placed in second place in Football Outsiders’ defensive DVOA metric and has ended in the top seven in points allowed.

In addition, the 52-year-old has served as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons for a total of six seasons, beginning in 2015 and continuing through 2020. He finished with an overall record of 43-42 and made it to the playoffs in both 2016 and 2017, winning the NFC championship during the 2016 campaign.
