Barcelona made a gamble by spending big in during the summer in their dire financial situation. But the Catalans are in danger again, as the relegation to Europa League looms near.

After having a controversial 1-0 loss at San Siro, Xavi’s side desperately needed to bounce back with a win on their home field. Despite leading the game before halftime with Dembele’s goal, Barella and Martinez led Inter after halftime.

After the equaliser from Lewandowski in the 82nd minute, Gosen’s 89th-minute goal helped to grab the lead again. It was Lewandowski who saved the game in the 92nd minute of the game.

Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo reported a huge loss if Barcelona did not manage to qualify for the next round. As Barcelona’s qualify for the next round fading, Blaugrana officials will face a loss of £18.4 million in their financial hardship.

Analysing the game, Henry and Carragher blamed Barca’s poor temperament helped to Inter to dominate the game. Even though Lewandowski scored two late goals, those were not enough to get a win for Blaugrana.

On CBS Sports, Henry said: “They made it a cup tie and an emotional game way too early. And you expect Pique and Busquets to go like ‘guys [calm down] it’s still the group stage this is not you dying tonight.”

Henry has the experience of winning the Champions League with the Camp Nou side in his three years stint.

At the same moment, Carragher also criticised the two most experienced Barca players. He also added: “If you needed one goal with half an hour to go, you’d back yourselves to get the one goal. Make sure you don’t concede and the game became too open, too spread, and it became too emotional.”

Barcelona’s manager, Xavi also blamed his team for having a such miserable game. The manager does not see his team as worthy enough to qualify for the next round. He feels sorry for letting all the Barcelona fans down.

Xavi spoke in the post-match interview: “I want to tell them that we will work to turn this situation around and win titles.”
