FC Barcelona Vice President Eduard Romeu has recently spoken about the possibility of Lionel Messi returning to his boyhood club.

After joining FC Barcelona at a very young age, Lionel Messi graduated from the famous La Masia. He was then Promoted to the main team.

After joining the main squad, Messi took very less time to settle and then established himself as one of the greatest ever players in the history of football. He won a lot of trophies with Barcelona and made them one of the strongest teams in the world. Messi’s love for Barcelona was unparalleled and it was thought that the Argentine forward will only retire in Blaugrana.

However, things did not unfold like that. Despite Barca’s brilliant show on the field, the club was having huge financial issues because of grave mismanagement. Barcelona could not register Messi’s new contract and the Argentine had to leave his beloved club with tears in his eyes.

Can Lionel Messi join FC Barcelona again?

After his exit from Barcelona, Lionel Messi joined French giants Paris Saint-Germain on a 2-year deal.

Despite a tough start in his first season, he won the Ligue 1 title with PSG. However, this time around the Argentine has got a smooth start. He has already netted eight goals for PSG in all competitions and also provided eight assists for them.

Messi has scored in the last five matches for club and country and is one of the most in-form players in the world. His two-contract however is going to expire at the end of the season. Hence, the speculations have begun about if he will rejoin Barcelona. Now, Barcelona’s Vice President Eduard Romeu has spoken about it.

In a recent press conference, Romeu said,  “If the club want to bring him back, we will get to work on the financial side of the deal.”

He further added, “We know how to make miracles happen. The doors are always open for Messi.” 

After the arrival of Joan Laporta, Barcelona have drastically improved their economic position and strengthened their squad with many big signings. The club is now on the way to regaining their lost glory. Now if they can add Lionel Messi back to the club, they will surely get another big boost.

Messi meanwhile is currently concentrating on the upcoming Qatar World Cup 2022. The Argentine has recently confirmed that this will be his final World Cup. He is now hoping to arrive in Qatar in his best possible step.

PSG are also looking to extend his contract. But Lionel Messi will only take a decision about his future after the end of the World Cup.
