Liverpool news: Reds preparing a bid for Darwin Nunez 

Liverpool news: The Reds are on the verge of losing their star attacker Sadio Mane. Mane’s contract at the club will enter its final 12 months on July 1.

The Senegal international has expressed his desire to leave the club while speaking to the media earlier this month. He said: “Isn’t it between 60-70% of Senegalese that want me to leave Liverpool? I will do what they want.

The Reds are likely (via Sports Illustrated) to give the 30-year old attacker permission to leave the club this transfer window. According to the Daily Express, Bundesliga club Bayern Munich are the frontrunners to secure his services.

The Merseyside-based club have identified Benfica’s Darwin Nunez as their top target to replace the Senegal international.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are preparing an official bid to sign Benfica attacker Darwin Nunez. The Reds are planning to make an offer worth €80 million-plus add-ons for Uruguay international.

Nunez has established himself as among the most promising attackers in Europe following his impressive 2021-22 season at Estadio da Luz. He won the Primeira Liga’s Golden Shoe last season, scoring 26 goals in 28 games.

The 22-year old attacker also scored six goals in 10 UEFA Champions League appearances last term. His performances earned him the CNID Footballer of the Year accolade.

Manchester United are another club in the race to sign the Benfica attacker. The Red Devils will also make their official bid for him over the coming days.

What will Darwin Nunez bring to Liverpool?

Nunez is an athletic footballer who is comfortable playing as a centre-forward, left-winger or as an attacking midfielder. He is known for his speed, physicality, and dribbling skills, along with his composure in front of the goal.

According to WhoScored, he averaged three shots, 1.1 key passes, and 1.4 dribbles per 90 in the Portuguese top division last season.

The Reds confirmed the departure of Divock Origi

Liverpool have officially confirmed the departure of striker Divock Origi. The Belgium international will leave the club upon the expiration of his current contract on July 1.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Origi has already agreed on terms to join Serie A club AC Milan. The 27-year old striker joined the Reds from Lille FC in the summer transfer window of 2014. He played 107 Premier League games for the club, scoring 22 goals.
