Thando Ntini, son of legendary South African bowler Makhaya Ntini, has begun training in Mumbai with Indian coach Dinesh Lad

Thando Ntini, the son of legendary South African Bowler Makhaya Ntini, has begun training in Mumbai with Dinesh Lad. The lad has coached some of India’s best players, including Rohit Sharma and Shardul Thakur.

He is also training at the Swami Vivekananda School in suburban Borivali, where Rohit and Shadrul have also trained

Thando is a left-hand batsman and a right-arm seamer, he was a member of South Africa’s 2018 Under-19 World Cup team and has played for Western Province and Kwa-Zulu Natal (Dolphins) in South Africa’s domestic cricket.

In 14 first-class games, the 21-year-old all-rounder has scored 1,038 runs and taken 32 wickets. In 14 T20 games, he has scored 409 runs and taken 16 wickets. Lad wows for Thando’s talent

Thando Ntini seems focused: Dinesh Lad

“He (Thando) actually came through one of my Railways students.” He worked as a masseur for the South African Legends team and knew Makhaya. South Africa is currently in its off-season, and Thando was idle.

Dinesh Lad is not charging him any fees. Makhaya Ntini, a former Proteas bowler who took 390 wickets in 101 Tests, wanted his son to train with a well-known coach, which is how he learned about Dinesh Lad, a well-known name in India’s domestic setup.

So Makhaya contacted my railway student and inquired whether there was a good coach in India. In turn, my student suggested my name. “And that’s how he came to me,” Lad said, speaking to News 18.

“We began his training on Wednesday, and I corrected a couple of his errors.” He’ll be in Mumbai until June 2 to train with me, and the adolescent sees the assignment as a challenge. He could represent his country.

Dinesh Lad will relocate his training to the Payadde Cricket Club in Kandivali to improve his bowling. “The size of my ground is smaller. I can work on his batting here, but he doesn’t have enough space for his run-up for bowling. “I asked Dr. PV Shetty if he could train at his facility, and he agreed,” the coach says. He has also begun to make suggestions to Thando in order to improve his batting. “He’s an excellent batsman.” He told me that he is an opening batsman who has only recently begun bowling. He’s a good bowler. He told me that bowling in good areas is more important to him than speed.

Coach continued, “He appears to be focused and aspires to be a good cricketer. We were told not to give him anything luxurious, and he is staying in a standard hotel.”

“He is a quick study. Today, he was unable to balance while batting, so I advised him on how to do so,” he added. According to Lad, in the near future, he may guide the sons of former West Indian all-rounder Carl Hooper and ex-Australian player Andrew Symonds.

Notably, Lad also coached his son, Siddhesh Lad, who went on to captain the Mumbai team.
