Erik Ten Hag has reportedly reached an agreement with Manchester United. Hence the Ajax manager is expected to take charge of the Premier League heavyweights after the end of the 2021/22 season.
Manchester United have been conducting interviews with potential managerial candidates in the last few weeks. In these, Erik Ten Hag had reportedly emerged as one of the favorites to take up the job.
The Ajax Amsterdam manager had impressed the Manchester United board in the early rounds of the interview. Hence the board had placed the 52-year-old Dutchman as their ideal candidate.
Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino was another strong candidate for the job. But the Argentine’s failure with PSG had caused doubt among the Red Devils’ management.

As reported by the Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Manchester United have reached a formal agreement with Erik Ten Hag. Hence the Dutchman is now set to become the permanent manager of the club next season.
Following a lengthy discussion, Erik Ten Hag has reportedly given a verbal confirmation about joining Manchester United. But there is yet to be any contracts or terms signed between the club and the player.
Ajax have also been involved and are aware of their manager’s decision. Erik Ten Hag still has a contract with the Dutch champions hence United would have to pay a fee to release the manager from the said contract.
Manchester United officials will sit down with Erik Ten Hag’s representatives and the Ajax officials in the coming days. During the meeting, all the details of the 52-year-old’s contract are set to be decided.
Ajax will face PSV Eindhoven in the KNVB Cup final on 17th April. Hence a mutual decision has been taken by both the clubs not to make a public announcement about Erik Ten Hag until after the game.
In the meantime, Manchester United will look to sort out Ten Hag’s coaching staff and get them finalized as well. Hence a public announcement will be made only after all the details are finalized.

Ralf Rangnick would move onto the consultancy role at Manchester United at the end of the season. The manager has failed to ignite the Red Devils since his arrival and the club could even realistically fail to finish in the top four.
Owing to this, Erik Ten Hag would have a lot to sort out when he comes in at the end of the season. The Dutchman would have to decide on the players he wants to retain and whom he wants to sign in the summer. Hence it has to be seen how the transfer window goes for Manchester United.
