Manchester United News: Three Ajax players that Erik Ten Hag can sign for United in the summer

Manchester United News: Manchester United’s new permanent manager, Erik Ten Hag, is on the verge of being named. If reports are to be believed, he may sign up to three players from Ajax.

The Red Devils are in the process of completing Ten Hag’s appointment in the upcoming weeks. Although confirmation of the appointment will have to wait, the Old Trafford hierarchy is already looking at a massive summer transfer window.

According to the Independent, Ten Hag has already identified potential targets to assist in resolving the club’s long-standing problems. The Dutchman even brought dossiers on some players already at the club.

Ten Hag is expected to be handed a substantial budget to make a slew of big-money acquisitions. However, the Dutchman may decide to raid Ajax in the summer to get his reign in Manchester off to a flying start. We will look at three players who Ten Hag may bring in as the future manager of United.

Manchester United News: Jurrien Timber

Jurrien Timber has established himself as one of Europe’s most sought-after defenders in just two seasons. The defender is a leader already at the age of 20. Timber is a product of the club’s academy. He has made 68 professional appearances for the Amsterdam giants and scored four goals in the process.

With worries about the long-term suitability of both Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Timber could be a fix. Ten Hag regards the six-capped Netherlands international as someone who could be the future star at Old Trafford.

Manchester United News: Antony

Antony is another player who is rated highly by Ten Hag. However, his signing won’t be an easy task. Following his departure from Sao Paulo in June 2020, the Brazilian has just exploded onto the worldwide scene as an ideal samba star.

With 12 goals and 10 assists in 33 games this season, the 22-year-old has established himself as the continent’s most intriguing young winger.

Antony possesses the raw speed and courage on the ball to terrorize fullbacks. He has a very feisty attitude which works in his favour most of the time but not all time.

In a derby match against Feyenoord in March, the wide forward scored an 86th-minute winner for Ajax, seemingly making himself a hero.

However, his celebration resulted in him being booked for removing his shirt, and he was given a second yellow card for time-wasting just eight minutes later.

After clashing with an opponent and rolling around in agony, Antony slipped back to the ground after captain Dusan Tadic helped him up, resulting in him being sent for an early bath. Despite his antics, Ten Hag was pragmatic and offered him support.

Manchester United News: Edson Alvarez

Manchester United News: When it comes to problem positions, the Red Devils should make signing a defensive midfielder their top priority this summer. United’s random midfield combinations have failed to control games on a consistent basis since Michael Carrick’s retirement.

Edson Alvarez, fortunately for the new manager, is exactly that. The 24-year-old, who is usually used as a deep-lying midfielder, has already earned 56 caps for Mexico. He recently helped them reach the World Cup finals. Alvarez’s ability to win duels in the air and on the ground, as well as his talent for suffocating danger, is just what the Red Devils require.
